I had an amazing opportunity to study abroad with the Sport Management Department the summer of 2017. We visited various soccer clubs such as FC Barcelona, Getafe Futbol Club, and Sporting Portugal. We also met executives from the Portuguese Olympic Committee and Centre D’alt Rendiment Olympic Training Facility.
Another experience offered from the Sport Management Club I could not pass up. I worked with the New York Road Runners to make sure the marathon weekend went smoothly.
For the opening ceremony, I was scanning in tickets and trying to control the crowd along with another volunteer and security.
On Saturday, we helped set up the barricades and logos at the start line for the 5k run.
Marathon Day we assisted Red Cross as spotters at the post finish line. We were posted up on stands encouraging runners to keep moving while directing them to medical tents and exits.
A closer look into sexual assault in college athletics with examples from different court cases at colleges such as Duke University, Pennsylvania State University, Baylor University, University of Oregon, and SUNY Cortland. We talked about how Title IX should be heavily enforced at each school with policies to follow if a sexual harassment incident does happen.
A detailed presentation about sitting volleyball, an adaptive and inclusive sport for those with disabilities.
Marketing implementation for our own spin on the Boston Marathon. Includes our target markets with demographics and psychographics. We created sponsorship package tiers for companies who would like to sponsor us. We went in depth with a SWOT Analysis on the mega event as well as a Profit and Loss chart and analysis.
A fabricated concept for an adaptive gym located in Ithaca, New York. Designed for people who are learning to get in shape with their disability. We bridge the gap between rehabilitation and everyday exercise. We go in depth of the finances and how we are funding our adaptive facility.
Two of my classmates and I talk about being a Sport Management major at SUNY Cortland. We talk about the opportunities, experiences, favorite classes, and the professors that the department entails.
